Brownies (Nancy Reagan)

Nancy Reagan's brownie recipe - I found this in a church cookbook from The Foundry Church in Houston, Tx.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 squares semi-sweet baking chocolate
  • 2 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 3 sticks butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups finely chopped pecans
  • powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS:
Melt chocolate and butter in top of a double boiler; cool. Beat eggs; add sugar until light in color. Add chocolate mixture to egg mixture. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder; add to other ingredients. Mix in vanilla and nuts. Pour into a buttered, floured 12"x18" pan. Bake in pre-heated 350 degree oven for 30--35 minutes. Cool, cut, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
